New Hotel Features in Mallorca

New designer suites, luxury family suites and sunglass butlers are just some of the new features offered by some of the island’s premium hotels this season.

Belmond La Residencia Opens “Suite 67” by British Designer Matthew Williamson. Deia.

Celebrated designer, Matthew Williamson, has been commissioned by Belmond to bring his unique signature style of vibrant colours, rich botanicals and luxury textures and fabrics to the exclusive Suite 67.  The designer has combined his style within the Mediterranean feel of the property to create a stunning one bedroom suite with outdoor “snug”, private pool, garden, terrace and outdoor spaces to create an entirely private area within the five star luxury of Belmond’s La Residencia.  Williamson, who also owns a property Deia, has a strong connection with the village and joins the list of Deia’s renowned artistic residents from the late poet and author, Robert Graves, to musical genius Lord Lloyd Webber. New look rooms & suites at the St Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort, Puerto Portals.

Located beside the superyacht marina of Puerto Portals, the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort has just completed a major refurbishment to offer 125 newly designed rooms and suites with a mix of contemporary design and traditional Mallorcan craftsmanship.

The bright modern design with Mallorcan elements has created a warm environment in the spacious rooms extending to the private terraces overlooking the hotel gardens and the Mediterranean Sea.  All the rooms feature elegant wooden desks made on the island combined with unique pieces including a “Gubi” brass lamp by the Danish architect and designer, Louis Weisdorf.  Other features include wrought iron doors with glass art, oak parquet floor and original art from numerous Mallorcan artists that make up the 400-piece art collection Ses Obres of St. Regis Mardavall distributed throughout the hotel.

Four New Suites at Son Brull, Pollensa

This summer Hotel Son Brull on the outskirts of Pollensa will launch 4 four new family suites by local Catalan designer, Came Pinós.  Each suite measures 100m2 and features two bedrooms and two bathrooms ensuite, a lounge area, terrace, a private exterior (heated) pool and a fireplace in the main bedroom and lounge. These suites, which have a capacity of up to 5 people, are aimed at families with children or couples who want to want to enjoy time together with all the services of a 5 star hotel.

Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa in collaboration with Taylor Morris designer sunglasses to offer “sunglass butlers”

This year the London eyewear brand, Taylor Morris, launches its first international shop in the Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel featuring a full range of sunglasses worn by personalities including Emily Ratajkowski, David Gandy, Sienna Miller, Cara Delevingne and Harry Styles, together with a selection of locally sourced items from.  To help guests select the perfect frame, in-room tablets will feature a ‘face shape guide’ and a wooden cabana has been designed beside the hotel’s infinity pool with ‘Sunglass Butlers’ on hand to offer a bespoke glasses cleaning service and a carefully-designed sunglasses menu.

Throughout the season there will be “personalisation nights’ where guests can get their initials engraved on their sunglasses and the brand founders; Hugo Taylor and Charlie Morris, will make regular visits to help guests choose their frames.
