Herewith a round-up of the latest new hotel openings this year 2025:

Cas Català, Sineu, now open!

This boutique hotel is a complete refurbishment of a large townhouse in the centre of the traditional Mallorquin town of Sineu renowned throughout the island for its lively weekly market.  The hotel is family-run and features 9 rooms (two with a balcony), all different in character, combining a contemporary, minimalist style within the original historic features of the building.

One of the main objectives of the owners is that all visitors should have an authentic local experience starting with the hotel breakfast featuring fresh local produce to the honesty bar with a choice of local wine from the nearby bodega of Finca Sa Punta. All the art in the hotel is by local artist, Xisco Fuentes, and even the room scents are of locally produced almond blossom. Other facilities include a small pool, and an area to store bicycles.  Bicycle hire and nearby gym facilities are also available on request.  The hotel is open to adults only and rates start from 120€ per double room per night to include breakfast.

The new Iberostar Selection Es Trenc in Colonia Sant Jordi – spring 2025

This is the redevelopment and upgrade of an existing hotel from four to five stars in the popular seaside resort of Colonia Sant Jordi in the island’s southeastern region and close to the famous Es Trenc beach.  The hotel Iberostar Selection Es Trenc is located right on the seafront and all the rooms will have sea views and terraces.

On the top floor there will be themed suites, next to the roof terrace with views of the Mediterranean. There will be two swimming pools, a buffet restaurant, a la carte Mediterranean restaurant and three bars.  In keeping with the sustainably development of Mallorca’s tourism sector, this hotel will be powered by 100% renewable energy.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra Hotel – Costa d’en Blanes, summer 2025

The new Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra hotel (built on the existing site of the old Punta Negra hotel) is a complete redevelopment of the existing Punta Negra hotel, and its established Mediterranean gardens located in the privileged position beside the sea with direct access to two beaches. The new Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra will feature 137 rooms, suites and private bungalows, a range of restaurants, three pools (including one children’s pool), a spa, and a covered/indoor pool.

The new hotel, which is approximately 25 minutes’ drive from Palma International Airport, will open alongside the existing St Regis Mardavall Hotel and within minutes of the superyacht marina of Puerto Portals, it is anticipated that this leading world-renowned hotel brand will elevate the entire area as a major “hot spot” on the island.

Aethos Palmira Hotel, Paguera, scheduled opening summer 2025

The Aethos Hotel Group will open their first five-star, 61-bedroom hotel with direct access to the sea in the popular holiday resort of Peguera in Mallorca’s southwest.  The hotel will feature a Mediterranean restaurant, a rooftop bar, an infinity pool, a large spa with an interior pool, and a fitness centre (with an exclusive club for members).  Room rates start at approximately 550 euros per night.

Finca Banyols, Alaró, scheduled opening summer 2025

This new rural hotel is in the heart of the island’s Sierra Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011, on the outskirts of the traditional village of Alaró, which is approximately 35 minutes’ drive from Palma’s International Airport.  Finca Banyols is the first opening for the Vignette Collection Mallorca, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ first collection of hand-picked hotels brand.

The 45-bedroom hotel is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees and will feature an informal restaurant, bar, and a signature fine-dining restaurant. It will also have spa treatment rooms with an indoor pool and an outdoor pool, as well as an extensive events space.

The latest Purobeach hotel opening in Santa Ponsa will be a blend of beach club and hotel/resort and is scheduled to open in June. Located 10 minutes from Santa Ponsa beach, it features 160 rooms, 2 swimming pools, restaurants, bars, sports and relaxation areas plus spa & wellness facilities.

 

The Four Seasons Formentor will fully reopen in March 2025

Last August the hotel opened with just 50 rooms. This spring it will fully open its doors with 108 rooms and suites, seven gastronomic experiences including three beach restaurants, a vineyard, two pools, a garden spa with outdoor yoga space, tennis court, children’s park, and indoor and outdoor event spaces.

The Hotel Formentor was the island’s first luxury hotel originally built in 1929 and favoured by Hollywood stars and statesmen.  Located on the spectacular coastal peninsula on the far northern tip of the island, and approximately an hour’s drive from Palma’s International Airport it provides the perfect retreat in one of the most stunning natural coastal areas of the island.

The hotel has been designed to respect and protect the natural surroundings through various environmental initiatives, such as the restoration of native vegetation and planting, reduced water consumption, rainwater harvesting and the use of grey water for landscape irrigation, heat recovery systems, solar power through use of solar panels, and food waste management systems.  Room rates start at: 603.00€ per night in a double standard room.

Hotel Piñero, Palma, opening end 2025/ 2026

In the Terreno area of Palma as part of the overall revitalisation of the area.  The Hotel Piñero in Palma, it is scheduled to open end 2025/beginning 2026.  This will be the restoration of an existing building by the Mallorquin architect Francesc Casas Llompart and dates to 1932.  As it is a listed building the restoration will carefully maintain the original artistic and architectural character of the building.   The second building will follow a contemporary sustainable design built to conform to Passivhaus certification.
