Mallorca 312
This year’s Mallorca 312 event will take place on Saturday, 28th April, for the ninth consecutive year. The different routes measuring 312 km (193 miles) stretch across the island around Mallorca’s Sierra Tramuntana (now a UNESCO World Heritage Site) the race will last all day from 07.00 – 21.00. Inscriptions are already sold out with a waiting list: http://www.mallorca312.com/
This event is expected to attract approximately 10,000 cyclists to the island and the hotel sector is gearing up to receive them. The Mallorca Hotel Federation reports that some 200 hotels throughout the island have specific facilities for cyclists including the Rafael Nadal Sport Centre in the centre of the island which will also host cyclists this season.
The key to Mallorca’s popularity for cyclists is not only because of the island’s unique topography that offers challenging mountain rides as well as fast rides along the flat plains but also its wonderful mild and sunny climate. The local government has worked to reinforce the infrastructure for cyclists by creating over 260 km of dedicated cycling routes. A cycling route map is available featuring 10 different routes with information and suggestions of hotels on each route with cyclists’ facilities.
