Mallorca’s Top Hotels set to Welcome Tourism in July

As Spain’s state of alarm comes to an end and borders open throughout Europe. Mallorca has remained one of the areas with the lowest rate of COVID19 in the country and in the Mediterranean. It was elected as the first Spanish destination to undertake a trial study to allow German tourists into the island without quarantine and put the new health protocols to the test.

Airlines – Every week more airlines such as Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2 and British Airways are announcing the opening of their routes into Palma. Tui is operating flights from Germany together with Eurowings and Lufthansa and Norwegian Airways will operate routes from Scandinavia from July.

Private jet travelWith over 75% of European border countries now open (albeit with some restrictions), Victor, the leading global on demand private aircraft charter company (that started into Mallorca in 2011), anticipates significant demand in the coming weeks working with the island’s top hoteliers to provide a premium “door to door” service to their clients. Hotels – According to the Mallorcan Hoteliers Federation, an estimated 300 hotels will open from July 1st to welcome the first visitors under the new protocols of hygiene and health. Many of the premium hotels on the island in spacious rural and seaside locations will be among the first to open. Herewith a selection:

Belmond La Residencia, Deià

Nestled in the picturesque villa of Deià, La Residencia will be open from July 24th. The hotel’s terraces overlook the village and the Sierra Tramuntana will be open for lunch and dinner accompanied by live music every evening. Guest experiences include the hotel’s own donkey trail, a romantic dinner in the “mirador” (viewpoint) overlooking wonderful scenery. A daily, private boat excursion for all clients in small groups. The hotel’s spa will also be open. Rates start from: 690€ per night for a classic room.

Hotels Can Simoneta,

Pleta de Mar and Fontsanta Hotel & Spa

Will all open from July 2nd. This group of Mallorquin family run hotels include the seaside/rural retreat hotels. The privileged locations of all these hotels provide plenty of space to offer guests privacy and comfort in stunning natural environments. Prices start at Can Simoneta 475€; Pleta de Mar 650€ and Fontsanta Hotel & Spa from 380€ per night for a double room to include breakfast and local tax.

Hotel Cap Rocat

Opening from June 24th, this former 19th century fortress has been transformed into a stylish 30 room hotel and is located on the south coast of Mallorca. It makes the perfect seaside retreat for nature lovers and has direct access to the sea from 2 km of coastline on a protected marine reserve with 30 hectares of land. Prices start from 400€ per room, per night to include breakfast.

Finca Serena, Montuiri

Opened last year, this historic rural estate is located in the centre of the island on the outskirts of the traditional village of Montuiri. The hotel is situated in 40 hectares of land with Mediterranean gardens, 900 olive trees, 10 hectares of vineyards and walking paths, all with panoramic views across the landscape. Prices start at 412€ per night in a double room to include breakfast and local tax.

NEW – Hotel Can Aulí Luxury Retreat, Pollensa

The island’s latest rural boutique hotel was forced to suspend its planned spring opening and will now open its doors for the first time from end-July. Located close to the main square and the ancient Calvari steps, it features 21 rooms – some with their own private terrace with views of the Sierra Tramuntana. Prices start at 200€ per night to include breakfast and local tax.

Castillo Son Vida

The Castillo Son Vida converted 13th century castle was converted into a grand hotel and opened in 1961 with a magnificent terrace overlooking the entire Bay of Palma and the city. The 164 room hotel is located within its own grounds and the greens of the Arabella Golf Son Vida and has hosted many illustrious guests. Prices start at 305€.

Sheraton Arabella Golf Hotel

The Sheraton Arabella Golf Hotel (also located in Son Vida) a favourite hotels with families and golfers, has a lead-in price of 290€.

St. Regis Mardavall Resort

The St. Regis Mardavall resort located beside the sea neighbouring the superyacht marina of Puerto Portals, it offers the ideal luxury retreat with full facilities, fine dining and a large spa. A double room starts at 890€.

The Castillo, The Sheraton and St. Regis will open from July 1st and the lead-in prices are per night to include breakfast and local tax.

In Palma:

El Llorenç Parc de la Mar

The El Llorenç Parc de la Mar is the city’s latest boutique hotel to open in the Calatrava area of Palma’s historic old town and will open from mid-July. Clients will be able to enjoy the famous Mediterranean cuisine of local chef, Santi Taura in the hotel’s DINS restaurant, massages in the hotel spa or drinks on the hotel’s top roof terrace bar and pool area. Prices start from: 200€ per night in a double room.

Boutique Hotel Can Alomar

Boutique Hotel Can Alomar, located on the Palma’s elegant Borne Boulevard in the centre of city, the hotel will open its doors on July 10th together with its popular Tokio Lima restaurant that extends out on its large terrace overlooking the old city and Palma Cathedral. Prices start at: 300€ per night to include breakfast and local tax.

Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden

This 16th century manor house is hidden away in Palma’s old town. Stylishly restored and opened in 2018, the hotel features 24 suites and one of the largest private gardens in the city with pool. Prices start from 389€ per room and night.

Hotel Portixol

Hotel Portixol, (outskirts Palma centre) – located beside the traditional marina of Portixol, the hotel’s swimming pool overlooks the sea. Opening on July 1st prices for a double room start at: 324€ to include breakfast and local tax.


At sea… 

Bonnie Lass Charters – You might recognise this distinctive 17 metre classic 1949 motorboat from a couple of films and television series. It operates out of Puerto Soller with capacity for up to 12 guests and the lead-in price for a private sunset charter on Bonnie Lass is 400€ to include the captain, fuel and insurance and 50€ per person for a shared charter.

In the air… 

From the end of June, Balearic Helicopters will fly private charters in an R44 aircraft for 3 passengers (in the same group) for a 30 minute flight from 499€ and from 599€ for up to 4 passengers in a R66. Protocol will include temperature checks on arrival, disposable headset covers and sterilised microphone for every flight and the aircraft is disinfected after each flight.

On land…

The majority of the 22 golf courses in Mallorca are now open. Prices differ depending on the course and time of day. Golf Son Termes in Bunyola, for example; has an opening offer of 50€ for 18 holes. Details on all courses and booking:
