Mallorca’s Top Hotels set to Welcome Tourism in July

As Spain’s state of alarm comes to an end and borders open throughout Europe. Mallorca has remained one of the areas with the lowest rate of COVID19 in the country and in the Mediterranean. It was elected as the first Spanish destination to undertake a trial study to allow German tourists into the island without quarantine and put the new health protocols to the test.

Airlines – Every week more airlines such as Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2 and British Airways are announcing the opening of their routes into Palma. Tui is operating flights from Germany together with Eurowings and Lufthansa and Norwegian Airways will operate routes from Scandinavia from July.

Hotels – According to the Mallorcan Hoteliers Federation, an estimated 300 hotels will open from July 1st to welcome the first visitors under the new protocols of hygiene and health. Many of the premium hotels on the island in spacious rural and seaside locations will be among the first to open. Herewith a selection:

Belmond La Residencia, Deià

Nestled in the picturesque villa of Deià, La Residencia will be open from July 24th. The hotel’s terraces overlook the village and the Sierra Tramuntana will be open for lunch and dinner accompanied by live music every evening. Guest experiences include the hotel’s own donkey trail, a romantic dinner in the “mirador” (viewpoint) overlooking wonderful scenery. A daily, private boat excursion for all clients in small groups. Finca Serena, Montuiri

Opened last year, this historic rural estate is located in the centre of the island on the outskirts of the traditional village of Montuiri. The island’s latest rural boutique hotel was forced to suspend its planned spring opening and will now open its doors for the first time from end-July. Located close to the main square and the ancient Calvari steps, it features 21 rooms – some with their own private terrace with views of the Sierra Tramuntana. Castillo Son Vida

The Castillo Son Vida converted 13th century castle was converted into a grand hotel and opened in 1961 with a magnificent terrace overlooking the entire Bay of Palma and the city. In Palma:

El Llorenç Parc de la Mar

The El Llorenç Parc de la Mar is the city’s latest boutique hotel to open in the Calatrava area of Palma’s historic old town and will open from mid-July. Bonnie Lass Charters – You might recognise this distinctive 17 metre classic 1949 motorboat from a couple of films and television series. From the end of June, Balearic Helicopters will fly private charters in an R44 aircraft for 3 passengers (in the same group) for a 30 minute flight from 499€ and from 599€ for up to 4 passengers in a R66.
