Palma Welcomes The Latest Luxury Boutique Hotel – Sant Francesc Hotel Singular

The new boutique Sant Francesc Hotel Singular will open at the end of March, 2015, on the historic Plaza San Francisco in the heart of Palma’s old town. The 42 bedroom hotel is on the site of a former manor house dating back to 1880 and was once owned by a noble Mallorquin family. Incredibly, when the current owners acquired the building, it had remained unchanged for 135 years and the project has taken great care to maintain the original features and overall character.

Sant Francesc Hotel Singular is owned and managed by the Soldevila Family and all aspects of its construction, architecture, design and interiors has been personally overseen by the family. The same family is also part of the owning and founding family of the Hotel Majestic in Barcelona (established in 1918).

Behind the impressive Baroque façade of the new hotel there’s an eclectic mix of terraces, courtyards and a lush Mediterranean garden. The hotel entrance is designed around the original courtyard which was originally used to saddle-up the horses. This area has now been converted into an elegant lobby/bar with olive trees and a water fountain.

The restaurant, which has capacity for up to 70 guests (35 inside and 35 outside), is located in the former stables of the manor house and leads onto the exterior courtyard and garden and to the restaurant outside dining area. On the upper floor, the Rooftop Terrace offers a bird’s-eye view of the city across to the Sant Francesc Church and Cloisters and Palma’s famous Cathedral. Here guests can sunbathe on the sundeck and pool area and enjoy refreshments at the lounge bar terrace.

The restoration and refurbishment is by Architect Tolo Cursach of International Hospitality Projects (IHP), who has undertaken the project with great sensitivity for the original detail and design of the building.

The interior design of the bedrooms and suites enhances the original features (such as the restored ceilings) combining them with a classic contemporary theme that is comfortable and stylish and have been created by Maria Jose Cabré of MJC Arquitectura. Each room features bespoke furniture, elegant fabrics, and select antiques. Garden landscaping for the patios, terraces and rooftop pool bar, has been created by landscape architect Ana Esteve of AE LAND 1988 Studio. The hotel also features a spa/sanctuary area for relaxing body treatments.

Nuria Ferrer Klein has curated the hotel’s own contemporary art collection and some of the pieces have been commissioned specifically.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the shops, restaurants, museums and the main sites of the city. It is scheduled to open on March 28th and will feature a lead in rate of 185€ per room per night based on 2 people sharing (excluding breakfast).
