Mallorca is continuing to be recognised for its culinary excellence and this month has picked up two new Michelin stars for the island. The new Michelin stars were awarded to local Mallorcan chefs, Santi Taura for his DINS restaurant within the boutique hotel El Llorenç Parc de la Mar in Palma, and father and son, Benet and Jaume Vicens of Bens d’Avall restaurant in Deiá. In addition, the Michelin star chef, Andreu Genestra, of Hotel Predi Son Jaumell in Capdepera, was also awarded a green Michelin star for his extreme care towards sustainability.

Marc Fosh, one of the island’s veteran Michelin star chefs who was first awarded a Michelin star 18 years ago, comments on the island’s changing gastronomy scene; “When I first won a Michelin star in 2002, I was one of several foreign chefs on the island with a Michelin star, now local Mallorcan chefs are really coming to the fore bringing their own island flair and producing amazing food with local produce.”
